Classy & Practical
PDX, OR 2026
Design Notes:
This was such a satisfying project! We were initially hired to redesign and give the bathroom a modern look. Yet during our walkthrough, we quickly noticed the need for their coat closet to be closer to the front door. Both spaces were definitely in need of a TODS overhaul.
First, we started with the bathroom remodel. The clients are 6’2” and 5”4” and due to the awkward height of the old medicine cabinet, neither client could see their full face! They even hung a lower mirror below the medicine cabinet so that the wife and child could get ready in the morning. We started with moving the electrical, framed in a new medicine cabinet and got rid of the old sink vanity to allow for more counter space. Being a small bathroom, their biggest problem was the lack of wall space to keep their towels dry. In addition, the deep closet shelves needed a redo to allow for better organization. New paint, wallpaper and redesigned shelves made all of the difference to create this sessy bathroom.
Next was the coat closet that has always been in their hallway directly outside of the bathroom. The proposed idea was to create an organized space for jackets and shoes closer to the front door. We built a wood slat divider, hung a shelf, new hooks, basket for mail and a cozy bench. TODS was extra excited to provide our DoOver service to the clients and redesign their living room. We added a few new items and revamped the space to show off their fabulous art. It turned out perfect and everyone was thrilled!
