Multi Generational Home
PDX, OR 2025
Design Notes: Our biggest project to date! This time we helped a 3-generation home live up to its’ fullest potential! Our client was pregnant with her 2nd daughter and needed space for baby, as well as under-utilized basement and garage spaces to do more heavy lifting in the home’s functionality.
Our client is a powerhouse professional who wears many hats, including supporting her aging parents while raising her own daughters. We relocated her office to the basement so the main floor’s 3rd bedroom could be prepared for baby. We turned the “catch-all” basement into a beautiful office/family room so when our client works from home she has a semi-private space, while also providing a cozy spot for the family to watch movies and a craft/game area for everyone to enjoy!
We relocated basement storage into a new hyper-organized garage storage system, giving our clients’ parents more of a dedicated basement suite. Transitioning bulky baby equipment from the garage into the house was a challenge, so we changed the swing of the garage door & added a new landing & wider stairs for easier flow.
The living/dining space got a refresh with new paint and an open furniture layout, making it more inviting to all who enter the home. The primary bathroom also got an overhaul, as we replaced a dated vanity that consumed too much space and updated the flooring with a non-slip vinyl that will support years of worry-free bathtime splashes!
Finally, we overhauled our client’s bedroom with gorgeous wallpaper, bookshelves around the TV, and a closet re-org so she has a peaceful space to retreat from her busy home.
We touched nearly every room of this home and enjoyed getting to be extra creative as our client wanted to re-use many of her own furnishings, giving us lots of upcycling fun!
